Ian Coleman has been named director of golf sales at Bonita Bay East, home to two Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses now available for daily fee play. The 1,400-acre nonresidential golf facility has been one of the region’s most sought-after golf experiences since it opened as a private club in 1997. The two courses wind through open areas, marsh and woodland and past cypress stands where players often see wild turkey, marsh birds, rabbits and white tailed deer. In recognition of its exceptional environmental setting the facility was the first 36-hole facility in the world to achieve Audubon International Signature Sanctuary status.

Bonita Bay Club is offering a limited number of golf memberships to qualified candidates who live outside Bonita Bay. For the first time in many years, nonresidents have the opportunity to enjoy the club’s amenities, including more championship golf courses than any club in South Florida. A restricted number of memberships are being offered for a limited time. Special preview memberships, designed to introduce the Bonita Bay Club experience to potential new members, also are available.
Dorothy Williams, director of design for the Bonita Bay Community Association, has earned the Professional Community Association Manager designation from the Community Associations Institute in Alexandria, Va. Williams is one of only 1,725 managers nationwide to have earned the highest level of professional recognition in the community association field.
For the third consecutive year, Travel + Leisure Golf magazine ranked Bonita Bay, Mediterra and TwinEagles, three of Bonita Bay Group's Southwest Florida master-planned communities, on its 2009 list of America's top 100 golf communities. The list, published in the January/February issue, is introduced, "These one hundred exquisite environments are case studies in how to make life on earth as pleasing, stimulating and worthwhile as possible."
Linda Miller, community services manager for Bonita Bay Community Association, has earned the Professional Community Association Manager designation, the highest professional recognition available nationwide. The Community Associations Institute grants the designation to those who specialize in community association management and meet specific training requirements and professional criteria. Miller is one of only 108 members in Florida to hold the PCAM designation.
Wine Enthusiast, a monthly magazine read by thousands for its ratings and recommendations, has selected The Fireside Room at Bonita Bay Club as one of the nation’s most wine-friendly restaurants. The Fireside Room was honored with an Award of Distinction on Wine Enthusiast’s fourth annual list, published in the February issue.
Travel + Leisure Golf magazine included Bonita Bay, Mediterra and TwinEagles, three of Bonita Bay Group’s six Southwest Florida master-planned communities, on its 2008 list of the top 100 golf communities in America for the second consecutive year. The list, published in the January/February issue, “seeks out superb golf, luxury residences, extraordinary locations and a breadth of lifestyle opportunities,” according to the magazine.
Bonita Bay Group and its employees raised $468,536 for the United Way of Lee County, helping to push the amount raised to 90 percent of the 2007-08 campaign’s $7.3 million goal. Employees pledged more than $234,268, and Bonita Bay Group continued its tradition of matching the funds dollar for dollar. The annual gift brings Bonita Bay Group’s contributions since 1990 to nearly $4.6 million.
Bonita Bay Group reports that Buonasera, a neighborhood of single-family homesites, is more than 25 percent sold. Buonasera is one of the last single-family home neighborhoods offered in Mediterra, the company’s 1,697-acre master-planned community in North Naples. To date, four of the neighborhood’s 15 homesites have sold. “Buonasera” is Italian for “good evening.”

Bonita Bay Group has named Xavier Duclos the executive chef at Bonita Bay Club, the private golf and country club in Bonita Springs. Duclos joined Bonita Bay Club in October 2006 as executive sous chef. In his new position, Duclos oversees all aspects of menu planning, preparation and kitchen operations for the club’s formal dining room, Fireside Room, the casual Club Room and banquet facilities, as well as dining facilities at Bonita Bay Club West, the site of the club’s two nearby golf courses.
The Lutgert Companies has opened Esperia South at Bonita Bay, the fifth of eight high-rises being developed within the Bonita Springs community. The 27-story building has 110 residences and nine penthouses. Only 25 residences and two penthouses remain available.
Rob White, community patrol manager for the Bonita Bay Community Association, has become a Certified Manager of Community Associations. He is one of fewer than 7,000 managers in the United States to pass a national exam and meet requirements for managing condominium, cooperative and homeowners’ associations. The certification program is administered by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers, an affiliate of the Community Associations Institute.
